Achieving safety certification & market acceptance in North America is hard with evolving safety standards

European manufacturers face stringent compliance challenges for entry into North American marketplaces. Testing requirements set by OSHA and other authoritative bodies dictate that product safety testing must be performed by a Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratory (NRTL) in order to demonstrate product compliance. OSHA and Authorities Having Jurisdiction will not accept “self declaration” of compliance to a product standard.

Standards address a variety of hazards that may influence a product's safe use. This requires an understanding of how the certification process works including regulations determined by OSHA and the National Electric Code. It is critical that manufacturers understand the North American certification process, legal requirements, selecting proper components, and third-party inspections. Even after their product has passed testing, routine inspections are required to confirm continued product compliance with applicable standards.
